Bad Vilbel/Berlin, January 23, 2013

As a new partner of Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, STADA Arzneimittel AG is now sponsoring five students. In the context of so-called “Deutschlandstipendien” (Germany Scholarships), STADA is supporting the medical field’s future top performers who already stand out with extraordinary expertise and volunteer activities outside of their studies.

Charité in Berlin is one of the largest university hospitals in Europe and is recognized across the globe as an excellent educational center. More than half of German recipients of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine have their roots in the Charité. “As a pharmaceutical manufacturer, we are health experts and we never compromise on quality with our highly qualified employees. It is therefore a matter of course for STADA to make a contribution to generating further expertise and to the high standard of education in the health care system”, says Lothar Guske, Vice President at STADA. “On one hand, we do this with our own educational program. With Charité, we now have an excellent partner in tertiary education to support future top performers. We were thoroughly impressed by the scholars' resumés.

In 2011, the German government introduced the so-called Deutschlandstipendium for state and state-recognized universities. As a result, exceptionally successful students receive a monthly contribution from private companies that is then doubled by the government. “We are happy that we now have an additional sponsor of our scholarship program with STADA, the only independent generics manufacturer in Germany. Well-educated future professionals are the basis of the continued high-quality of our country's health care system, which provides our people with excellent medical care”, says Prof. Dr. Annette Grüters-Kieslich, Dean of Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin.
In addition to university education, STADA is also active in the areas of children's aid, sports for the handicapped and cultural sponsorship.
