Nearly half of Europeans are scared of ageing

43 percent of Europeans are afraid of ageing, with women more affected than men. The main concern is age-related physical decline, while others embrace ageing as a natural part of life.

Age is just a number, isn't it? Yet, 43% of Europeans are scared of ageing, a fear more prevalent among women than men as the STADA Health Report 2024 reveals. The primary reason for this fear is the concern of age-related physical decline (68%).

However, there are just as many people who remain unfazed by the idea and embrace it fearlessly! The majority of them see ageing as a natural part of life (79 percent). Half of those who are not afraid of growing older don’t want to concern themselves with things they can’t control.

People who rate their mental health as good are particularly carefree about the future: Only 38% of them are afraid of growing older. This contrasts with 58% of those who describe their mental health as poor.

Let's work together to promote healthy ageing and help people see that there's more to it than the amount of candles on the cake.

With its 10th anniversary edition, the STADA Health Report ventures beyond identifying trends in Europeans’ thoughts and worries about all things health, to also offer actionable solutions for problem areas.

Find out more about these issues, their underlying causes and possible solutions in the full Health Report. And we will share more exciting insights over the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
